2012 Mountain Road Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

The fruit for the Mountain Road Reserve grows on Adelaida Springs Ranch, located at 1,700 feet elevation only 12 miles inland from the Pacific Coast. Situated in the rugged coastal mountains west of Paso Robles, this prime vineyard site features rocky calcareous soils and southwestern exposures that lend themselves to producing stunning wines. It is here that the grapes for our award-winning Meritage, Suendero, are grown.

This special selection focuses on Cabernet Sauvignon. To achieve a balanced style with a rich character and refined mouthfeel, the wine was aged for 32 months in new French oak barrels. 12% Petit Verdot was blended for added structure – enough to enhance the overall mouthfeel while still showcasing the rich Cabernet Sauvignon character.

This structured wine features flavors of dark currants with complex nuances of mocha and spice. Rich, layered tannins and good underlying acidity give it the capability for further development of character and finesse with proper cellar aging.
